Moore is well-known for his adult comics along fantasy and fetish lines (more on that in Adult Comics for Fans of Sci-Fi and Fantasy). Even the characters there have something inherently wholesome about them, no matter what kind of graphic shenanigans they're getting up to. I can't think of another artist whose work is quite so paradoxical in that way.
This week's Feature Article is an introduction to Richard Moore's late, lamented series Boneyard. Moore's work – both story and art – is very charming, which compensates for when the setups are a bit trite and the look is rather cutesy. But underlying the cartoon veneer is a distinctly grown-up sensibility – a contradiction that keeps Moore's comics interesting.
